   • Different types of computers and computer components
   • Starting the computer and using the mouse
   • Learning mouse skills and understanding pointers
   • Working with menu items, toolbars, and entering text
   • Understand and use different keys on the keyboard
2. Introduction to the Desktop
   • Working with the computer desktop, and recognise common desktop icons
   • The Start button, understanding what the taskbar is and some of its features
   • Select, activate common desktop icons, and opening applications
   • Shuting down the computer
3. Working with Windows
   • Identifying different window parts and managing windows
   • Navigating window contents and window switching
4. Document Creation
   • Enter text into a document and inserting paragraph marks
   • Use a toolbar icon to change font size, and font colour
   • Printing and saving documents
5. File Handling
   • Understanding file and folders, and hard disk structure
   • Recognise common file types and associated icons
   • Opening and closing files and folders with the mouse
6. The Internet
   • Understanding the global concept of the Internet and accessing the Internet
   • Internet services such as the World Wide Web and E-mail
7. Web Browsing
   • Understanding what are web browsers, home pages and the terms URL, hyperlink
   • Working with favorites, bookmarks and browser 'history'
   • Wntering URLs, and logging onto a website using a user name and password
   • Activating hyperlinks/image links
   • Navigate a website with back, forward, home
   • Complete and submit a Web-based form
   • Using internet search engines
   • Searching for information using keywords
   • Downloading files from a website onto your computer
